Increase Investment in Acadia

You decide to stay the course in Acadia and continue to invest in your existing grantees but without expanding the portfolio; with enough funds for the next 2 years.

Partnership Alert!

CountryAID wants to partner with your foundation as part of its new justice-oriented development policies. CountryAID is offering $3 million over the next 3 years. But this government money comes with requirements:

  • Reporting 4 times a year on spending; you will have to get grantees to produce reports 4 times a year as well

  • You can only give grants to registered organizations

  • You need to disclose names of grantees to CountryAID and you have to ensure that CountryAID’s brand is used for your activities.

What will you do next?

Your next steps need to be taken carefully. Consider the questions below (but there are others that may affect your decision). Good luck.

You need funds to continue the work in Acadia - is this the right opportunity?

CountryAID has a mixed reputation in Acadia - on one hand, it has been critical of the ACP-led Acadia government; on the other hand, some of your grantees think that CountryAID is imperialist.

What infrastructure do you need as an organization in order to take on this partnership with CountryAID?

You will have to manage sub-grantees' reporting and ensure that it meets CountryAID standards.

Are there elements of the donor requirements that are of concern?

If you don't take this funding, what are your alternatives?
