GRANT MAKING NERDS
Context
XYZ Foundation has been working in Acadia for the past 10 years. XYZ has primarily funded based on the pressing priorities in Acadia – in the last 4 years, that has meant investing in environmental justice and LGBTQI+ rights. In the past 3 years, XYZ Foundation started to explore work around forced evictions and natural resource extraction, largely in response to human rights criticisms and new community organizing.
XYZ Foundation generally has a good reputation among progressive and human rights focused NGOs though the Acadia Conservative Party does have political suspicions about XYZ Foundation’s motivations in Acadia. XYZ joins a relatively active community of funders working to tackle social inequalities, with whom we have strong relationships and a history of collaboration which is very important to assuaging XYZ’s board’s concerns when they arise.
